Studies show that Happy Employees are more productive and also results in Happy Customers. This goes for any business and any industry. Imagine how important this is for the service industry such as your Spa and Salon. If your employees are not happy it affects their quality of work which impacts your customers. Remember typically you’re not selling a product that can be eaten or used but a service. The services you offer affects their appearance which is more important than any product.
If employees feel unappreciated and over worked customers can tell. Employees are either moody, rough, works too slow or too fast, or does a sloppy job, due to their unhappiness. This is not the type of service that you want your business to be known for. One person tells ten people about poor service vs three people when they receive good service.
There are simple cost effective things that can be done to keep your employees happy. Such as longer breaks, ice breakers (trivia) throughout the day, up-training during slow seasons or shifts. How about a new microwave, occasional snacks or lunches, small giveaways etc. Acknowledge birthdays, employment anniversaries, & host Holiday parties. These little acts of appreciation and kindness will go a long way it can be the foundation to a very successful business!
